Kia EV9 Ute rendered by Theophilus Chin – a dual-cabin pickup based on a six- or seven-seat EV SUV

First announced last month, KIA EV9 was given a full disclosure in late March, and was revealed to be an all-electric, three-row SUV, 5 meters long with a 99.8 kWh battery pack, offering a range of up to 541 km. A full-size SUV like this one is appealing for its accommodation and utility, but what about those looking for something more cargo-friendly?

It doesn’t actually exist yet, however a pickup version has been rendered by Theophilus Chin, providing a glimpse of the version of this Kia EV9.

The original EV9 offered a very blocky, square cut form that was said to be a great fit for the pickup shape that Theophilus had created. Starting in the middle, the EV9’s rear doors have been shortened to accommodate the dual-cabin pickup body layout and now have a rectangular shape, eliminating the SUV’s angular surface, which is now applied to the cargo box. outer plate.

At the rear, the vertical taillights have been redesigned to incorporate a full-size pickup truck-style strip, and the top edge of the license plate cavity no longer has the dents found on the EV9 SUV; There is now also a longer rear overhang from the rear wheel in this version.

Here, the rear door of the pickup has a recessed handle similar to the door of the EV9. At the top, the top of the pickup version has roof rails similar to those of the EV9 SUV, although naturally shorter to accommodate the truncated roof.

In fact, the EV9 SUV measures 5,010 mm long, 1,980 mm wide and has a wheelbase of 3,100 mm. The Global Power Module Platform (E-GMP) used here will underpin 23 battery-powered vehicles across the Hyundai, Kia, Ioniq and Genesis brands.

The EV9 will be offered in three variants – RWD Standard, RWD Long Range and AWD, the latter being a dual-engine configuration that will deliver a combined output of 380 hp and 600 Nm, allowing a 0-100 km acceleration /h in six seconds (the Boost function available as an online upgrade delivers 700 Nm of torque, shortening the 0-100 km/h time to 5.3 seconds.

The ability to travel the longest distance mentioned above is 541 km thanks to the RWD Long Range, equipped with a 210 hp / 350 Nm engine that allows 0-100 km / h in 9.4 seconds. Its 800-volt architecture enables fast charging, which can deliver an additional 239 kilometers of battery range in just 15 minutes, Kia claims. The EV9 can also power other devices through its V2L capability with up to 3.68 kW of output.
