rare She’s extreme sold for A$3.4 million (US$2,250,120, A$1 = US$0.6618) on 9 May at a Chairman’s sale following Coolmore’s continued investment massive entry into the elite breeding stock as some of the world’s biggest thoroughbred buyers clash on Inglis’ night.
Coolmore’s Tom Magnier signed three seven-figure mares in less than four hours, adding C’Est Magique (A$1.7 million) and Autumn ballet (A$1.6 million) thanks to the acquisition of She’s Extreme—before taking second place to big-spending American John Stewart Tutta La Vita.
Resolute Racing principal, who underbid winx 10 million Australian dollars Pierro Daughter four weeks ago at the Australian Easter sale at Inglis, paid A$3.2 million (US$2,117,760) for the three-time group-topping Tutta La Vita.
In total, nine fillies and fillies were sold for A$1 million or more to six different parties in a select 88-lot sale at Riverside Stables in Sydney.

“It’s not often that a filly can win a group 1 at 2 and train on and win the Oaks,” Coolmore Australia’s Tom Moore said.

Another of Coolmore’s acquisitions, C’Est Magique is number one in the group, which will race under the care of trainer Chris Waller against heavyweights John Magnier, Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith.
“She has good performances left in the race and could be at group 1 level,” said Colm Santry of Coolmore. “There are plenty of horses for her, produced by Zoustar, and she can go abroad to join Justify later.”
2023 Black Opal Stakes (G3) and Silver Shadow Stakes (G2) winner Autumn Ballet, who was proposed on Thursday night as a racing and breeding proposition, will be retired immediately.
Stewart Lands Tutta La Vita
Meanwhile, brash American boss Stewart bid via Inglis’s Mark Webster by phone for the Tutta La Vita consigned by Chris Waller Racing, the second highest priced lot in the Chairman’s sale .

“Tom texted me right when I bought her and I didn’t know I was going up against him and you don’t like to do that to people you partner with, but that happens when you’re both are all after good fillings,” Stewart told ANZ Bloodstock News.
“I feel good about the horse, the fact that they were the lower bidders because I consider them to be very good judges of the caliber of horses.”
Stewart, who met Waller earlier this year during a trip to Australia, took notice of trainer Tutta La Vita’s endorsement.
He said: “There are probably some horses on paper that look a little more accomplished on the track, but we think from a prospect that she would be a better fit for our program. “
Waller described the sale of Tutta La Vita “as a great outcome for everyone” and he was pleased that Resolute Racing was keeping the filly in its stables.
“They are obviously very passionate about racing around the world, especially in Australia,” Waller said. They are making their presence felt here and obviously having a horse like Tutta La Vita is appropriate.”

Sales response
The one-day sale netted A$34,885,000 (US$23,093,521) for the 56 lots sold, down 22% from 2023. “Certainly from the beginning, it was clear that there was a gap between the expectations of buyers and sellers,” he said.
“Obviously one of the challenges in offering a group of mares that the vendors value, is that you’re trying to strike a balance between what the vendor thinks they’re worth and what what buyers think they are worth.
“For one reason or another, we may not have gotten there early on in the sale, and that’s something we have to work on.”
The Australian breeder chicken sale will get underway on May 10, starting at 11 a.m. local time.
