Perodua enters Bangladesh – PHP to assemble and sell Axia, Myvi, Bezza and Aruz; Ativa and Alza are coming
Perodua has added another overseas market to its export portfolio, the brand is now available in Bangladesh. Last month, the national automaker signed an agreement with PHP Motors, a subsidiary of PHP Family, for the latter to assemble and sell its vehicle models in the country.
Based on Business standards, today PHP Motors will launch four Perodua models in Dhaka. The four models, namely Axia, Myvi, Bezza and Aruz, will be assembled at the company’s Saraipara Halishahar plant in Chattogram (formerly Chittagong). PHP Motors MD Mohammed Akther Parvez added that there are plans to expand the lineup in the coming future.
“Perodua has six models. We are working on all models. Initially, we will assemble these (4 models) at our factory and sell them. Other models (Alza and Ativa) will also be assembled and launched soon,” he said.
If the name PHP sounds familiar, it’s because of the company Used to process Protons. Proton is currently represented in Bangladesh by the local corporation Ranconis set to X90 assembly domestically later this year.
Although PHP has ended its agreement with Proton, it said it will honor all existing warranties on Proton vehicles. Akther said: “When we signed the agreement with Perodua, we included this condition to enable us to provide after-sales service for previously sold Proton cars and they have appreciated our commitment I”.
PHP’s factory has the capacity to assemble 1,200 units per year. With more than 400 employees, the factory can assemble 36 cars in three shifts a day (12 cars per shift). The facility has been operating at full capacity since 2019, the company said.
