The final group of Kentucky Derby Futures Bets will take place over three days from March 30 to April 1, with Repole Stable and St. Elias Stable’s Forte ranked as a 5-2 favorite in the field of 39 individual horses plus a 40th option for “All the other 3-year-olds” unlisted.
Unlike the first five groups of Futures, Group 6 of the Kentucky Derby Futures will close on Saturday at 6 p.m. ET, which is 40 minutes before the $1 million Florida Derby (G1) and 1 hours 50 minutes ago Arkansas $1.25 million Derby (G1)—making it a real futures bet.
Pool 6 will feature a $2 win and correct bet. Fans can place bets through www.TwinSpires.com along with simulcast and ADW stores from around the country.
Forte, the 4-5-odds favorite in the Florida Derby, will have his final test on Saturday before the $3 million Kentucky Derby (G1) on May 6. Son of Violence took heavy action in all five previous groups of futures bets, and added to his bias in the last start when he won a $400,000 deposit for Age young (G2) at Gulfstream Park.
Overall, there are 14 new hobbies in Group 6 from Group 5: Arctic Arrogance, Bourbon Bash, Continuar, Derma Sotogake, Dreamlike, Dubyuhnell, Fort Bragg, Hayes Strike, I Don’t Get It, Jace’s Road, Mendelssohns March, Shadow Dragon, Slip Mahoney and Wild On Ice.
Wild On Ice, winner of the $600,000 Sunland Park Derby (G3), was not initially nominated for the Triple Crown but his connections paid $6,000 late for the Triple Crown nomination to he is eligible for the series.
There are no refunds in Kentucky Derby Futures Bets. Should Churchill Downs officials determine during this week’s three-day round that one of the hobbyists has suffered an injury, illness or other circumstance that has prevented the horse from participating in the match. Derby Kentucky, betting on individual horses will be suspended immediately.
