Joe Joyce knocks out Joseph Parker in 11
By: Sean Crose
Rising heavyweight Joe Joyce improved his record to 15-0 on Saturday when he beat former star Joseph Parker in the 11th round in their tough battle in Manchester, England. Despite being 37 years old, Joyce is seen as a rising and returning player in the heavyweight division. And, while Parker certainly had his moments, Joyce ultimately proved that he was a force to be reckoned with. He is also currently an interim WBO heavyweight champion athlete.
This is a tough battle. Not fast paced, but hit hard. Parker’s strategy seems to be to lure Joyce into close range, then unleash powerful combos – usually aimed at the body. It was an effective plan at times, but not effective enough to keep Joyce off her own heavy shots. As for Joyce, his goal is clearly search and destroy. And while it does take some time to get to the demolition part, the particular left hook he fired that caused Parker to fall and come out in section eleven was the coil highlighting material.
