After sifting through many different names, George Kambosos Jr. was reported reduced to just two.

As first reported by ESPN, the current unified lightweight champion is still weighing an offer to take on current WBC fame Devin Haney and, in a more likely scenario, Vasiliy Lomachenko.

While nothing has officially been finalized yet, both Kambosos Jr.’s return date and battle location. is said to have been fixed. The 28-year-old will return to the ring on June 5, at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia.

At first, it seemed like Haney was at the forefront of the undisputed duel against the Australian-born product. However, after months of back and forth negotiations, Lou DiBella, current promoter of Kambosos Jr., revealed that he had “switched on” from a possible confrontation against Haney, claiming Eddie Hearn , the 23-year-old’s current promoter, has made an unacceptable offer.

Regardless of who Kambosos Jr ultimately chooses, he stays true to his original word. In November 2021, Kambosos Jr stomped his feet in Teofimo Lopez’s backyard and went on to strip him of his IBF, WBO, WBA, WBC “Franchise” and Ring Magazine titles for being banned.

Immediately after the win, Kambosos Jr announced that no matter who he faced next, his opponent would have no choice but to travel to Australia, his home country.

Lomachenko, 33, has come back well since losing the titles that currently hold the Kambosos Jr. unanimous decision for Richard Commey.
