Does Ryan Garcia make the list after his sensational victory?

Ryan Garcia’s dominant win over Devin Haney on Saturday created a difficult situation here.

On one hand, Garcia turned in arguably his best performance of the year so far, knocking out his 10th-ranked opponent three times and winning by majority decision to stun Haney and the boxing world. .

Garcia deserves credit for executing a good game plan to perfection, which has certainly boosted his stock.

On the other hand, he weighed 3.2 pounds over the 140-pound limit for the fight, a setback that dented his performance to a good degree.

That has to be considered when we decide whether he deserves to be on our weight list.

Then there’s Haney. That’s right, he lost decisively, even embarrassingly, which under normal circumstances would have required us to drop him from our rankings or at least drop him from 10th place down to Honorable Mention.

However, there is the issue of weight. Garcia is effectively a welterweight when fighting a younger welterweight, which one could argue is an unfair advantage.

The truth is that Haney agreed – for whatever reason – to continue the fight even though Garcia missed weight by a mile. The chips will fall where they may in that case.

Complicated, right?

This is what we decided to do. Garcia cannot be rewarded for such lack of professionalism, which we can assume played a role in the outcome. Plus, it’s impossible to ignore that he was stopped by Gervonta Davis just two games ago.

So, Garcia will have to wait to become a Boxing Junkie boxer.

Haney? He has to go.

Once again, he chose to fight an overweight Garcia, clearly believing that his superiority in skill could make up for any physical advantage Garcia might have. The results were terrible for him. He doesn’t look like a dealer at all.

As a result, Haney was dropped from the roster, which moved numbers 11-15 Bam Rodriguez, Artur Beterbiev, Errol Spence Jr., Vasiliy Lomachenko and Shakur Stevenson up one spot each.

Additionally, two-time 168-pound titleholder David Benavidez, Mention of the Week, moves up to No. 15. And Junto Nakatani, the undefeated 118-pound titleholder from Japan, enters for the first time as way is the Person in question.

Next promotion fight: No. 6 Canelo Alvarez is scheduled to defend his undisputed 168-pound championship against Jaime Munguia on May 4 in Las Vegas.
