Sean Zittel’s fightype recently had an in-depth interview with Tim Bradley, now online. In the interview, world champion turned effective fight broadcaster Bradley discussed the details of the upcoming Gervonta Davis – Ryan Garcia match. Key point? Bradley thinks Davis will win in the end, although he’s not really happy about it. “I just find it hard not to bet on Tank,” he said. “He can do more than a Ryan Garcia at this point…he can also hunt you down.” It’s not that Bradley thinks Garcia has no chance, he just feels the famed Californian doesn’t have what it takes to weigh in at this point in his career.

“Controlling his emotions was key,” Bradley said of Garcia. “He won’t win a dogfight, and he won’t win a boxing match either.” However, Bradley thinks Davis has his own weaknesses. “We know,” he said, “that Tank is not the best defensive player in the world. He could be beaten.” Furthermore, Bradley believes Davis might be the one to really work in the ring when he’s up against Garcia. “Tank will be the one to move his legs,” he said. “He (Garcia) has a chance to win this match if the points are counted.” In the end, though, Bradley didn’t see things that way.

“Tank is not just one side,” he said. “He can do many things. I will support him in a fight. Not that Bradley was happy about that. “I hope Garcia will knock him out,” he added, “but I really doubt it.” However, Bradley went on to point out that “anything is possible.” Possibly, but not sure. “He’s not a complete fighter,” Bradley said of Garcia. “He’s gifted, but he still gets wet behind his ears.” Bradley made it clear that he was impressed with Garcia, just not enough to think that Garcia would win Davis.

“I respect him for taking on the challenge, but he’s still not at his absolute peak,” Bradley said. “Tank has knowledge of that ring. You achieve it over time. Someone like Garcia still doesn’t have that.” In other words, Garcia is a work in progress while Davis is the whole package. “He couldn’t fight from the inside,” Bradley said of Garcia. “He still has a lot to learn. There is a lot to take in.”

“I’ll say Tank with a late knockout,” Bradley said emphatically.
