The fourth-generation Hyundai Tucson was launched in November last year, offering three variants – 2.0 Lite, 1.6T Plus and 1.6T Max; it’s the 1.6T Max that we can bring to a live image gallery.

Priced at RM195,888 on-the-road without insurance, the Tucson 1.6T Max, like the other two variants, is based on the long-wheelbase version of the SUV, like the one sold in U.S.Ai.e. dimensions are 4,630 mm long, 1,865 mm wide and 1,665 mm high with a wheelbase of 2,755 mm. Luggage capacity here is 582 liters, or up to 1,903 liters when the rear seats are folded down.

As the top variant, the powertrain includes the manufacturer’s Smartstream G.16 T-GDI 1.6-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder gasoline engine, producing 180 horsepower at 5,500 rpm. and maximum torque of 265 Nm from 1,500 rpm to 4,500 rpm. Engine power is transmitted to the front wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, helping the car accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 8.8 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 201 km/h.

The 1.6T Max-specific exterior kit includes front parking sensors, LED combination taillights and aluminum roof rails, while this variant’s rollaway mirrors mirror those of the 1.6T Plus, are 19-inch alloy wheels shod in 235/55 tires.

Meanwhile, the interior equipment of the top-end variant includes 8-way power front seats with heating and ventilation, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control with door. rear air vent, power tailgate, power side mirrors, rain-sensing wipers and wireless charger.

All three variants get seven airbags as standard, along with ABS, ESC, hill start assist and Isofix mounts for the outboard rear seats. In particular, the advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) is upgraded when choosing the 1.6T Max, gaining functions not available on the 2.0 Lite and 1.6T Plus.

Specifically, they are Smart Cruise Control (SCC) with stop and go function, Forward Collision Avoidance Assist (FCA) with intersection assist (AEB), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Assist Lane Following Assist (LFA), Driver Attention Warning (DAW), Leading Vehicle Departure Alert (LVDA), High Beam Assist (HBA), Blind Spot Collision Avoidance Assist ( BCA) and motion sensor for Rear Occupant Alert.

As the top variant in its line-up, the Hyundai Tucson 1.6T Max – priced at RM195,888 – sits in the playing field of top C-segment SUVs from other brands, such as Honda CR-V e:HEV RS at RM195,900 and Mazda CX-5 2.5T AWD High at RM191,170.
