Chen Quing Chen-Jia Yi Fan vs Mayu Matsumoto-Wakana Nagahara

In the women’s doubles category, top seeds Chen Quing Chen and Jia Yi Fan faced off against Japan’s Mayu Matsumoto and Wakana Nagahara. The Chinese currently overwhelm the home team with a score of 9-4 and understandably as they are much more calm and composed than their opponents, who are feeling the heat.

A four-point lead for the top seeds at the time of the first game, 11-4. Chen was absolutely explosive as usual as they still led 15-11 against the 6th seed. The Chen-Jia pair got their first game 21-13. The Chinese pair are on track for a spot in the final, taking an 11-4 lead at the interval of the second game. Mohammad Ahsan-Hendra Setiawan vs Fajan Alfan-Muhammad Rian

In the opening match of the day, Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan continued their abundant form to defeat comaptriots Fajan Alfan-Muhammad Rian 23-21, 21-12, 21-16. With this victory, Ahsan-Setiawan is not only guaranteed a place in the finals but is also unbeaten at Worlds.

COMMENTS DAY 5:

On Friday afternoon in Tokyo, Satwiksairaj Rankedlydy and Chirag Shetty entered the Badminton World Championships record books. Beating defending world champions Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi 24-22, 15-21, 21-14 in one hour and 15 minutes, they not only made it to the semifinals but also became the first guaranteed Indian men’s doubles medals at the BWF World Championships.

It was India’s second world championship medal in doubles with Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa winning the women’s doubles for the first time in 2011.

In the semi-finals, the Satwik-Chirag pair will face sixth seed Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik from Malaysia.

“We don’t want to stop here. We want to go further. But this is what we are aiming for. We want to keep fit and play well,” Satwik told reporters after the game.

MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila’s fine run came to an end after the Indian pair lost to three-time gold medalists Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan in their men’s doubles quarterfinals.

The combination of India, who have had a number of exciting wins this week, lost 8-21, 14-21 to third-seeded Indonesia, who are unbeaten at Worlds, in less than 30 minutes, draw the curtain for their campaign.

The Indians previously defeated eighth seeds Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen of Denmark in the second round.

HS Prannoy of India was defeated by Zhao Jun Peng of China in the quarterfinals. The world does not. The 18 beat his compatriot Lakshya Sen in a grueling round of 16 match on Thursday, having dropped to 23rd Zhao 21-19, 6-21, 18-21.
