Canelo Alvarez knows exactly what it’s like to compete in the light heavyweight division. The weight class star made his only trip to the weight division in November 2019 and produced the result he was looking for, scoring a 11th round goal against title winner, Sergey Kovalev .
Despite proving he’s more than capable of dealing with the extra pounds, Alvarez admits that fighting at 175 pounds is a burden he doesn’t want to carry. Regardless of how he feels, Alvarez has always cherished the idea of rising again. This time, to challenge the current unified champion, Artur Betterbiev.
If Alvarez does decide to run at the newly introduced 175 Hall of Famer, Bernard Hopkins believes he will take care of the business in his new home.

Although Alvarez has floated the idea of competing in light weight again, he has yet to say anything about doing a cruiser race.
