Last year, Wales Interactive released Maid Of Sker, a first-person survival horror set in a creepy hotel. It’s your typical horror experience – a single-player game that makes you solve puzzles and linger in horrible places while trying to avoid ghosts. You might expect that a second Sker-y game would follow a similar formula. Are not. This weekend, the developers announced Sker Ritual, a co-op shooter in which you will need to survive the onslaught of vampires.
Wales Interactive calls it a “spiritual successor” where up to four players can team up to survive against the Quiet Ones-like mobs (zombie-like people introduced in Maid Of Skers). ).
Sker Ritual slated to release in Spring 2022 On steam, as well as PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. That’s about all the information Wales Interactive has to offer at the moment, but I have lots of other questions.
Are they planning to go this way ever since? Was the move to the co-op horror genre inspired by Phasmophobia? Do they realize that the Maid Of Sker is a bit of an average person and that they can step in to liven things up? I must know.
In her Maid Of Sker ReviewsAlice Bell enjoyed the atmosphere and setting, but found it a bit lackluster overall. She felt like it had borrowed the wrong part of the other horrors.
“This is not a game made to aggregate YouTube scares, nor is it a game that carries a long, creepy fear,” she wrote. “Instead, it lands somewhere between the strange keys and puzzles of Resident Evil, and the quiet, existential dread of something like Soma, leading to a lot of people waiting around. ”
I would imagine there would be less of a wait in a shooter, so perhaps the new style would suit the old Sker. I really like co-op horror stuff, so I’m pretty much looking forward to seeing what they have in store.
