The 2022 PA-Bred staking plan is worth nearly $4 million
The Pennsylvania Horse Breeders Association has released a 2022 stake schedule for state-bred horses, with 27 stakes to be run at Pennsylvania racetracks throughout the year.
Staking action starts on April 25th at Racing Parx featuring two seven-time $100,000 $100,000 races for older horses: Unique Bella Bets for mares and mares and McKenney Page Handicap, an open contest.
Seven $100,000 bets will be awarded on Pennsylvania Day at the Race, August 22 at Parx, including the first two events of the inaugural 2-year-old PA-Sired PA-Bred Series, Betting Whistle Pig and Miss Blue Tye Dye (for the filling).
The 2-year-old male series continues on the Parx’s Pennsylvania Derby (G1) Day card on September 24 with $200,000 Prince Lucky Stakes and Imply Stakes. There are also two $200,000 races for larger horses, the Plum Pretty Stakes for the fillets and mares and the Alphabet Soup Handicap on grass.
New on the calendar are the $100,000 Jump Start Stakes, named for the state’s perennial perennial top male, for older athletes bred from the state of Pennsylvania. It’s been more than seven days taking place on October 18 at Parx.
Presque Isle Downs will hold five $100,000 Pennsylvania-bred shares beginning in July. Penn . National CircuitThe June 3 Penn Mile (G2) card includes four $100,000 bets bred from Pennsylvania. At the end of November, Penn National was once again the host of the $200,000 Shamrock Underage Rose Award. The final donation on the schedule is $200,000 Pennsylvania Nursery Stakes at Parx.
