“Let me know, I’m not waiting for anyone,” Tim Tszyu tweeted this week. “I create my own destiny. Get the job done this weekend @VergilOrtiz and we make a fight for the ages.” Really gets the job done. If Vergil Ortiz is successful in defeating Thomas Dulorme this Saturday night when they meet at Fresno’s Save Mart Arena, he will find himself facing the popular and notable Tszyu. Furthermore, if Ortiz wins on Saturday, he and Tszyu will fight on a full basis for the Terence Crawford – Israil Madrimov fight in August. Again, it’s 20-0 Ortiz, who hasn’t If you ever meet an opponent that you have not defeated, you will have many advantages in this weekend’s match with Dulorme.

Suffice it to say, Ortiz-Tszyu is a fight worth drooling over. These are two tough, skilled and exciting fighters who give it their all in the ring. Tszyu recently lost his junior middleweight title to Sebastian Fundora in a fight in which Tszyu appeared to change before suffering a horrific cut near his eye. As for Ortiz, simply put, the man is dangerous. A calm hunter, he is known to move forward deliberately while maintaining powerful movements and putting pressure on his opponents. Finally, the Texan knows how to end a show with a bang.

Again, Ortiz has never faced anyone like Tszyu before. Like Ortiz, Tszyu likes to apply pressure. He is also agile and one of the best at combining his punches effectively. Furthermore, Tszyu – as proven in the Fundora war – is pure of heart. Knowing how bad his bloody situation was against Fundora, the famous Australian continued to fight for victory despite the odds. Finally, Tszyu is looking to get back on track after his only loss just about a month ago. He is a warrior who wants to get back into the win column.

Of course, it could be interesting to talk about the Ortiz-Tszyu fight, with Ortiz still having to get past Dulorme this weekend. And if Ryan Garcia’s impressive victory over Devin Haney last Saturday told fans anything, it’s that anything seems possible in boxing. Dulorme may have lost to the likes of Crawford and Yordenis Ugas, but losses to big names can be seen as lessons learned. It is true that he has lost three of his last four matches, but Dulorme knows clearly that this is the best time to take advantage of the opportunity.

The Ortiz-Dulorme fight will air Saturday night on DAZN. The TV main card begins at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time.
