Tallahassee memorial resumes some functions after alleged cyberattack


TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – A major north Florida-based regional hospital system resumed seeing patients in clinical clinics on Monday, days after a security incident forced the system to go offline from its IT network. .

But Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare is still forced to use paper documents, and non-emergency surgeries and outpatient procedures were canceled on Monday.

Some of the patients in the emergency room were transferred to other hospitals, but this hospital is accepting pregnant patients, the health care system said in a statement Sunday.

Information technology systems were taken offline as a security precaution on Thursday after Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare was hit by an apparent ransomware attack. It showed signs of such an attack, but the hospital described it as an “IT security issue” and reported it to law enforcement. Victims often, at least initially, refuse to endorse ransomware attacks.

“Our teams are working around the clock in collaboration with external consultants to investigate the cause of the problem and safely restore all computer systems quickly,” the statement said. possible. “IT security incidents take time to investigate and resolve.
