2022 Isle of Man TT
Anticipation and excitement continues to build ahead of the Isle of Man TT Race in 2022, with the announcement of the top 20 starting numbers for the RST Superbike and Milwaukee Senior Races.
John McGuinness will start at No. 1 with senior Morecambe familiar with setting pace from the front. The 23-time TT winner returns to the Honda Racing family of which he has 11 TT championships, including his most recent; 2015 high-end TT.
Following him in 2nd place was 2019 Senior TT winner Dean Harrison on the new styling Kawasaki ZX-10RR after his team of Silicone Engineers rebranded it as DAO Racing Kawasaki. Seven-time TT winner, Michael Rutter will be the next driver to finish third in the always eye-catching Bathams Ales BMW.
Ian Hutchinson started at his usual spot 4th for TAS Racing’s Milwaukee BMW Motorrad, with James Hillier in 5th on the RICH Energy OMG Racing Yamaha YZF-R1
All eyes will be on Michael Dunlop in 6th place; Dunlop has won 19 times to give Ducati their first Superbike TT Race victory aboard the exotic Panigale V4R, run by the PBM Ducati team.
Two-time TT winner Gary Johnson is back in 7th place on Specsavers/NL Motorcycles BMW, with Davey Todd breaking into the top 10 for the first time in the Superbike class, starting at 8th on Padgett’s Motorcycles Milenco Honda’s motobike.
Australian David Johnson started in 9th on the second RICH Energy OMG Racing Yamaha, and ten seconds behind him will be outright lap record holder Peter Hickman, who takes his usual No. . But despite the same amount, the paint color is definitely not, with the main sponsor being the Gas Monkey Garage that decorates the FHO Racing BMW M1000RR.
The biggest change in the starting order came in 11th place, where local favorite Conor Cummins dropped the order, choosing to chase his main rivals over being chased, having started first. first at TT 2018 and 2019.
Jamie Coward will wear the number 12 plate on his KTS Racing race car supplied by Steadplan Yamaha, while Lee Johnston returns to the regular number 13 on the Ashcourt Racing BMW.
Philip Crowe (Handtrans Haulage / Nigel Appleyard BMW) is in 14th place, ten seconds ahead of Sam West (The Street Diner BMW) and Dominic Herbertson (Haith BMW) is in 16th place.
The Irish trio of Brian McCormack (FHO Racing BMW / The Roadhouse Macau BMW), Derek Sheils (The Roadhouse Macau BMW) and Shaun Anderson (Hawk Racing Suzuki) started 17th, 18th and 19th respectively with Craig Neve ( Callmac Scaffolding BMW) finished the top 20.
Outside of the top 20, McGuinness’ stable of Honda Racing UK player Glenn Irwin will start his TT career from 22nd place.
