Brand new electric yacht racing series to start in 2023
Electric canoe races have traditionally focused on high-speed, gas-guzzling watercraft, but the shift to electric racing canoe is happening in part thanks to the introduction of RaceBird, an all-electric canoe. designed to compete in the all-electric E1 tournament. The series begins in 2023.
This electric shift aims to inspire others to “electrify marine mobility.” The electric RaceBird has a top speed of 58 mph thanks to its 150 kW outboard motor from Mercury Race. It is equipped with hydrofoil technology, which reduces drag and maximizes energy savings. Powering this electric racing boat is 35 kWh the battery, will need to be charged twice in one race. The series begins in 2023 and consists of 12 teams competing in 10 events each racing season. Learn more at e1series.com
