Ritz-Carlton coming to Italy, Hyatt opening in San Miguel de Allende and other hotel news you missed


The shortest month of the year has come and gone — and with it lots of important news from the hotel world.

I hope your February is filled with fun moments, lovely plans for Valentine’s Day, and time spent celebrating Black History Month. (Although there are incredible destinations where you can celebrate and learn about Black history every month of the year.)

Last month, our hotel team and TPG colleagues reported that if you If you want to clean your room every day at the Marriott, you will have to pay more and that The future of Hyatt is all about luxury, lifestyle and resort. They also reported that President Joe Biden is targeting “junk fees” settled on hotel stay, airfare and credit card.

But in the midst of all those stories, there are tidbits of news that deserve a bit of attention. Here’s hotel news you might have missed in February.

New Hyatt properties in Dominican Republic and Mexico

HYATT

One of TPG’s 40 most exciting new hotels to open in 2023 finally welcomes guests — Numu Boutique Hotel San Miguel de Allende. You can find it in the extremely charming Mexican city of San Miguel de Allende, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The boutique hotel has only 44 keys, an artful space inspired by the beautiful city, and the Nubye Spa, offering traditional Mexican healing rituals. It features a variety of restaurants, including a rooftop venue serving southeastern Mexican fare, an all-day Mexican restaurant in the courtyard and a lobby bar.

A 6th class World of Hyatt resort, bonus nights are 25,000 points per night or about $309 per night.

HYATT

If you want to keep up with the booming all-inclusive trends (trust us, they’re finally getting better!), Hyatt also has a brand new all-inclusive resort for you to explore. Found on the beautiful beach of Cabeza de Toro in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, Dreams Flora Resort & Spa offers 520 suites — all with balconies or patios. The club-level suites offer access to the club pool, bar, and more upscale amenities. There are also multiple pools and water parks, as well as a kids and teen club, and a spa.

As for restaurants and bars, there’s a wide selection from teppanyaki-style Asian restaurants to seafood and Mexican outlets, plus international buffets. There are 13 bars, including poolside options, sports bars and beach bars.

The Ritz-Carlton is heading to Lake Como

MARRIOTT

If you’re a fan of luxury hotels, the pretty village of Bellagio on Lake Como in Italy, and the Marriott Bonvoy program, we’ve got some great news for the last day of February. The former Grande Brittany will be turned into The Ritz-Carlton HotelBellagio, the first in Italy, with a projected opening date of 2026.

Hotel Grande Bretagne was one of the first resorts on Lake Como and dates back to 1850. Since then, it has fallen into disrepair, but it will be “restored, fully preserved and simulated.” property with the utmost respect for the historic significance of the building,” Marriott, along with Grimit Srl, said in a statement.

Once opened, The Ritz-Carlton, Bellagio will feature 59 guest rooms, 46 suites, an outdoor pool, multiple restaurants and bars (to be announced) and a private marina on the lake. Four Seasons wants to take you out

FOUR SEASONS

Four Seasons is known for taking the customer experience to the next level (literally — it has a private jet that can take you around the world visit the best resorts of the Canadian brand). However, if you want to keep things a little lower than the ground, the company has announced two new features Four seasons driving experience. This way, you can cruise around the Napa Valley in California or the European Alps in a luxury car before resting at the many Four Seasons hotels.

In the fall, from October 29 to November 4, Four Seasons Resort and Residences Napa Valley serves as the Napa Valley Driving Experience; it explores Napa’s world-famous landmarks, culinary offerings and wineries along San Francisco Bay, oyster farming in Tomales Bay, and hot air balloon rides.

Celebrity chefs are turning up the heat for the Las Vegas Grand Prix

If you haven’t heard, Las Vegas is about to have a banner year full of new experiences, shows and restaurants; Sin City will even host a Super Bowl next year. But first, people from around the world will take over the Strip for the Formula 1 Heineken Silver Las Vegas Grand Prix. The best place to see is the Bellagio Fountains Club – a temporary indoor-outdoor club built on elevated observatories that will be built on top of the resort’s famous fountains .
