Oppo revealed more details about its 50mm retractable device. Camera module: Digital photography review
Earlier this week, we shared a teaser from Oppo presents a concept mobile device with integrated retractable camera module. Now, thanks GSMArena, now we know more about the camera module inside the concept device, which was showcased at Oppo’s annual Inno Day event.
According to a report from GSMArena, Oppo managed to fit a 50mm equivalent full-frame F2.4 camera module into a device that’s just 8.26mm thick. Behind the retractable lens is the 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor that Oppo is tipped to use in the upcoming Reno 7 Pro flagship smartphone.
As you’d expect from such a camera module, the telescopic nature means that the camera will only be usable when the pop-out module is fully extended. This will result in a longer wait time between pulling the phone out of your pocket and taking your photo, but Oppo says it can open and close in just 0.6 seconds, so you won’t have to wait. too long. For your patience, you’ll be rewarded with a suitable 2x optical zoom lens that’s both splash and dust resistant.
Oppo hasn’t revealed when we can expect to see this in a device, but it’s safe to say it will be reserved for its flagship models, given the cost of implementing such a mechanism. .
