The boy jumped in and swam towards a ‘big’ bear he saw struggling in the water
A giant wandering black bears into a residential area in Alligator Point, Florida. Wildlife officials knew they would have to quickly relocate the bear, but this is when things went horribly wrong.
The safest and easiest way to remove a bear from a residential area is to tranquilize and relocate it.
But the dart frightened the bear and it rushed towards the sea.
As he swam into the Gulf, he became drowsy and began to drown.
Adam Warwick, a wildlife commission biologist, saw what was happening and knew he had to do something.
He swam to the bear and stopped it from advancing.
“It was a sudden decision. I had a lot of adrenaline when I saw the bear in the water.”
The bear approached Adam in an attempt to surface on top of him. But the bear’s legs became weaker and weaker.
He grabbed the bear’s scruff, keeping its head above the water.
Adam remained calm and did not give up.
He then dragged the 400 lb bear about 25 yards to the ground!
Here they are finally finding their way out of the water.
At this time, other group members came to help.
They were able to use a tractor bucket to lift the bear and transport it home to the Osceola National Forest.
The bear is now safe and sound. Call me crazy, but I think it was an appreciative look on his face.
This is more similar! He was happy to be home.
I’m exhausted just reading this! I can’t imagine keeping its head above water and pulling it back to land. What a hero!
