All signs point to polygons
Internet is working this morning after the user on Resetera Discover what Bandai Namco recruits staff to develop seems to be an HD recreation of an unnamed Nintendo classic.
Buzz appeared after an update for recruitment page of Bandai Namco’s Japanese website, is currently offering a vacancy for “3D action game designer”. According to the job listing, the selected candidate will be responsible for planning and developing a project that has been “authorized” by Nintendo. Additional roles advertised include “3D background artist” and most specifically roles that involve HD import and re-edit of pre-existing 3D images.
So it seems, quite clearly, that Nintendo commissioned Bandai Namco to develop a title that builds on one of the company’s 3D polygon hits, such as the numerous titles that appear on the N64 platform in the late ’90s. One might wonder why Nintendo would hand the role over to another developer, but the two studios have enjoyed a healthy relationship over the years, most recently being working together for games like Super Smash Bros., Pokken Tournament, New Pokemon Snapand ARM.
For now, this is purely a healthy rumor, but it seems fitting that we can expect a remake announcement from The Big N in the near future.
