Spike Chunsoft announced that Chaotic; Noah’s head won’t be on Steam. It will still launch on Nintendo Switch. Chaotic; Noah’s head on Steam was originally identified as October 7, 2022 release. This is the same release date as the Switch version. According to Spike Chunsoft, the reason behind this is that Steam has requested changes to the game’s content. This is due to Steam guidelines. It’s not clear what Steam has deemed inappropriate Chaotic; Noah’s head. However, Spike Chunsoft believes that if they change the game to Steam’s request, it will no longer be up to the standard. Independent developers and smaller publishers have surfaced complaints about Steam’s approval process for visual novels in particular, citing inconsistencies and unclear instructions as to what’s actually licensed.
Chaotic; Noah’s head is a remake of the original Chaotic; Head, launched in 2009. The first game in the “Science Adventure” series by developer 5pb and Nitroplus, it is a sci-fi visual novel with elements of mystery and horror. The story also takes place in 2009 and focuses on the “New Generation Madness,” which is a series of strange events, including grisly suicides committed under suspicious circumstances. The player assumes the role of Takumi Nishijou, a reclusive person suffering from delusions. The game’s Illusion Activation system allows the player to choose when Takumi is available.
Chaotic; Noah’s head will launch on Nintendo Switch on October 7, 2022. Spike Chunsoft is considering releasing it on Windows PCs through another service. However, it does not specify a new PC release window or platform.
