California driver fined for creative carpool lane hack
Using carpool or transit lanes can help you cut down on traffic. However, what happens if you are in a hurry but have no passengers?
The answer is not to use mannequins, as one driver discovered when they were stopped by the California Highway Patrol in Santa Fe Springs, located in Los Angeles County.
Law enforcement shared an image of the driver’s plastic companion on Instagram, which may be convincing from a distance but certainly not up close.
The motorist also called attention to their ruse by crossing the double solid white line in front of an officer.
“The goatee is very sharp… a little too sharp,” the post on the Santa Fe Springs CHP Instagram account reads.
“The driver was later fined for multiple carpool violations.
“We had to give it to them, ostensibly a next-level model but at the end of the day… plastic is plastic.”
