Chery Tiggo 4 Pro confirmed to be available in Malaysia, first half of 2025 – rival improved SUV Perodua Ativa, Honda WR-V
Chery Tiggo 4 Pro has been confirmed to be available in the Malaysian market and the B-segment SUV model will be available in the segment below. Omoda 5 both in size and price. Chery Malaysia said paultan.org at the ongoing Chery 2024 International Business Conference event, Tiggo 4 will arrive in the first half of 2025.
Tiggo 4 is part of Chery Malaysia’s first event – media preview – returns October 2022, so it’s no surprise that Tiggo juniors will come here. However, time has passed and the car we are showing you from Chery’s headquarters in Wuhu looks different from the Tiggo 4 of a few years ago.
The latest 2024 facelift of the Tiggo 4 has a bolder look that includes a larger and more angular grille, which is visually connected to vertical LED daytime running lights at the edges of the bumper. The headlights are LED and the light clusters are thinner. Overall, the new look gives a broader impression and is also more modern.
Like the front, the Tiggo 4’s styling and rear end are also more in line with its larger Tiggo siblings. The chrome lower trim of the daytime opening now extends to the rear; this plus several coats of black paint creates the ‘floating roof’ effect seen above Tiggo 7 and Proton’s X SUV. The two-tone 5-spoke alloy wheels here look quite small but are actually 17 inches with 215/60 rubber.
For me, the changes to the rear are the most transformative element of the Tiggo 4, which looks a lot more modern with a full-width bar containing fancy LED signatures and a fully spelled-out Chery logo. Vertical reflectors on the bumper edges reflect the front LED daytime running lights. Payment procedures pre-surgery to see what we mean.
The Interior of Tiggo 4 before facelift is a strong point for cars of this size/price, but it has been modernized further and now has the adjacent screen commonly found on other Chery SUVs. Further down, the piano key row and piano black AC panel are retained, but the vents are now full width. Shift-by-wire allows for a small knob and a large storage compartment below the center console. However, the steering wheel still retains the Chery logo instead of the logo on other Tiggos.
Tiggo 4 Pro is equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, generating 147 horsepower and maximum torque of 210 Nm at the rpm range of 1,750 to 4,500 rpm. Slightly lower than Omoda 5’s 1.5T with 156 horsepower/230 Nm. The Tiggo’s base-level engine has always been a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder, mated to the manual transmission that some markets require.
What do you think about Chery Tiggo 4 Pro? Its prospects will depend heavily on price, as buyers in the sub-RM100k market are more price-sensitive than those buying a RM150k SUV. The T4 will definitely be priced below the century mark as the Omoda 5 starts at RM109k. However, the Chery has the potential to surprise everyone with its price, so could this car retail between RM80k and RM90k?
By comparison, the Perodua Ativa – which has a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged engine – is priced between RM62,500 and RM72,600, while the 1.5L NA runs the gamut. Honda WR-V Retail from RM90k to RM108k. These are the two small SUV models that Chery is aiming for with Tiggo 4 Pro.
