What is Cucina del Capitano on a Carnival cruise ship?
Cucina del Capitano, which translates to “Captain’s Kitchen” in English, is an Italian restaurant found in nearly a third of the country. festival ship. It was first launched on Carnival Magic in 2011, after the label decided to poll Italian heads about their favorite recipes at home. From there, the Cucina del Capitano menu was born.
The restaurant offers delicious food options for visitors craving traditional Italian dishes such as pasta, chicken Parmesan and tiramisu, which they can enjoy with limoncello after dinner.

While the décor and atmosphere may vary from ship to ship, the restaurants have a cozy feel with family photos of the captains on the walls. You’ll sit at a table with a red and white checkered tablecloth that makes you feel like you’re cooking in the backyard or in a cozy alcove that makes the experience feel like you’ve entered a small room. On most ships, the restaurant operates like a typical place. specialty restaurant. Meals at Cucina del Capitano are divided into four categories or courses: appetizers, soups and salads; main courses and pasta; parties; and desserts. Favorite dishes suggested by the captain will be noted on the menu.
You can choose to start with salted tuna, meatballs, crispy shrimp, minestrone soup or caprese salad. For your main course, try pasta with clams, spaghetti carbonara, grilled fish, veal marsala, pork chops or the captain’s favorite chicken Parmesan. You can also choose a steak – including filet mignon, surfer steak or grilled lamb chop – for an additional $23.
For your sides, choose roasted broccoli and cauliflower, lentils, spinach or crisps.
If you still have room for dessert, options include apple pie, frozen lemon tart, baba (Italian rum cake) or tiramisu, the captain’s favorite. You can also order specialty coffees and treats, including limoncello, amaretto, sambuca, grappa, etc.
The selection of wine (red, white and rose) and beer will cost more unless you have a drinks package that includes your drink choice.
A children’s menu is available for children 11 years and under. Options include spaghetti with meatballs, fish sticks, fried chicken, and macaroni and cheese, with a choice of cannoli or lemon sherbet for dessert.
Additionally, six of the 11 ships with Cucina del Capitano also have a free Captain’s Pasta Bar option for lunch. The menu includes a choice of linguini, penne or farfalle, as well as sauces such as tomato, Alfredo, white clam and gravy, and avocado. Additional combinations include Italian sausage, chicken strips, and a variety of vegetables. Want something more hearty? You can also choose lasagna and don’t forget to eat it with Caesar salad or bread.

Cucina del Capitano price
Pricing is a bit confusing as it varies depending on the train.
On the latest line Excel class ship, Cucina del Capitano is free for all passengers on their first visit to the restaurant. Additional visits are $8 per person. The only exception is carnival festival; all tours are free during the ship’s opening season. Then it will share the same price as Carnival And Mardi Gras festival.
On the eight other ships with restaurants (see below), the cost is $24 per adult. Children 11 and under can dine for $11 from the children’s menu.
Selections from the steak section of the menu will incur a fee of $23 each. Alcohol will cost extra unless you have it beverage packages cover it. An 18% gratuity will be added (except for complimentary meals) and a $5 surcharge will apply to each main course after the first two courses per person.
The Captain’s Pasta Bar, offered for lunch only on select ships, is free.
