Remember the unfortunate incident of dog walking that left Lady Gaga’s French bulldog missing and her dog walker hospitalized? The 19-year-old suspect accused of dog napping was detained by police last year, and is now free after he was mistakenly released.
According to a statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, authorities are searching for James Howard Jackson, who was released Wednesday “due to clerical error.”
“The investigation is continuing and the LASD Main Crime Bureau is actively working to bring Mr. Jackson back into custody,” the statement read.
NBC News reported that Jackson appeared before a judge on Tuesday. Records show that the charges against him were dismissed and he was released the next day. As we previously reported, Jackson is one of three men charged with attempted murder, attempted robbery and second-degree robbery for Lady Gaga’s fatal shooting of dog walker Ryan Fischer.
Fischer was reportedly walking Lady Gaga’s three dogs last February when he was attacked. Video of the incident shows two men jumping out of a white sedan and a tug-of-war before one of them fired a shot at Fischer.
Lady Gaga offered a $500,000 reward for the return of Kojo and Gustav, and two days later they were returned to the LAPD station by a woman. Police initially claimed she was “not involved and not affiliated” with the crime. She reported that she found the dogs and replied to an email address linked to the reward.
It was later revealed that she was having an affair with the father of one of the dog theft suspects.
Ryan Fischer spoke out about a week after the incident, explaining that he almost died as a result of the shooting.
