LOS ANGELES — Lisa Marie Presley Authorities said on Thursday that she died of complications following bariatric surgery several years ago.
The horoscope for january 12 at the age of 54 of the singer, songwriter and heiress of Elvis Presley was thought to be a natural cause due to the effects of small bowel obstruction.
Additional details about Presley’s cause of death were included in an autopsy report released Thursday afternoon by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office.
The report said the complication Presley had was a common complication of bariatric surgery, which is a weight loss procedure. The Mayo Clinic says it’s usually done when other methods of weight loss haven’t worked or if a person has a serious medical condition.
Presley died at a hospital in Los Angeles, where she was rushed by paramedics to respond to a 911 call from a woman in cardiac arrest at her home. There is no indication publicly available at the time of what could be causing the medical problem.
The autopsy report said she had complained of stomach pain earlier in the day.
She is buried at a funeral January 22 in GracelandThe house where she lived with her father as a child has become a museum, tourist attraction and shrine for Elvis fans.
Presley leaves behind three daughters, 34-year-old “Daisy Jones & the Six” actor Riley Keough and 15-year-old twins Harper and Finley Lockwood. One son, Benjamin Keough, died in 2020.
Immediately after her death, it seemed likely that a major legal battle would ensue over Presley’s estate. Four days after her funeral, her mother, Priscilla Presley, file court documents The 2016 revised dispute over Lisa Marie Presley’s living trust removed Priscilla Presley and a former business executive as trustees and replaced them with her two older children.
But Priscilla Presley and Riley Keough – who are currently acting as sole trustees – agreed to a settlement in May.
Riley Keough was nominated for her first Emmy on Wednesday, for best actress in a television series or limited series for “Daisy Jones & the Six”.
