A Porsche 718 GT4 RS needs a Manthey Racing Aero kit
Listen, friends, if you have cash and the buffer needed to purchase a Porsche 718 GT4 RS, you may be interested in the brand new Manthey racing kit that Porsche announced for that hardest core mittelmotor rennwagen on Thursday.
What is Manthey Racing Set? Well, it’s a very expensive factory-approved aerodynamic and chassis modifier that Porsche claims will double your downforce at 124 mph — you know, right where you’ll feel it on the highway. Just kidding, this kit is designed specifically for the day race enthusiasts and that speed can be easily achieved on a closed circuit, so you will really benefit from the aerodynamics.
All the stationary aerodynamics are great, but where the Manthey really come into play is in the wheel fans. I don’t care what anyone says; Wheel fans are great on everything, especially the GT4 RS. It feels like a real race car, and that’s a good thing.
Besides the aerodynamic details, the Manthey kit also includes an adjustable coilover suspension with increased spring rates compared to the original. The compression and recovery can also be changed without tools, which will make dialing much easier. Racing compound brake pads are also available but don’t be stupid and run these on the street as you’ll have a hard time finding out they need heat to work.
Remember when I talked about this expensive set? Well, Porsche and Manthey have yet to announce official pricing, but a similar kit for the 911 GT3 costs $57,300 before adding optional lightweight wheels. So yeah, don’t expect to get this set for cheap.
Porsche says the Manthey Racing kit will be available in the United States.S.but it doesn’t say when.
