Earlier this week, we discovered Kirby and the Forgotten Land became The biggest When will Kirby debut in the UK. Now, in related news – the game has crowned the “biggest” Kirby launch in Japan.
As marked in Japan Famitsu Sales Ranking This Week, the new Kirby game took the top spot as the best-selling release of the week. It sold 380,060 copies – outperforming titles like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Pokémon Legend: Arceus and even hits from FromSoftware Elden Rings.
The Game Data Library has shared a complete list of all of Kirby’s previous retail sales in Japan, and apparently, Kirby and the Forgotten Land preordered the 2008 DS title. Kirby Super Star Ultra. As also noted in the tweet below, Forgotten Land is the second biggest video game of the year due to launch in 2022. Pokémon Legends: Arceus is ahead of Kirby, and in third place is Elden Ring.
