David Wise’s work on Donkey Kong Country The series’ soundtrack is arguably one of the most iconic of the SNES era. The original set the tone, from ‘Main Theme’ to ‘Underwater Environment’ to ‘Gan-Plank Galleon’. And because of Wise’s excellent work, we’ve all heard of the ‘Stickerbush Symphony’ from Donkey Kong Country 2 and blank words Dixie Kong’s Double Trouble!‘Rockface Rumble’ was etched in our minds.

Now there’s a whole new way you can celebrate the music of this stellar series. Holophonics, a ska punk band from Denton and Dallas, Texas, have released a new album as part of the MaSKArades series. Title Donkey SKang CountryThe band coined funk and rhythm to rearrange 21 iconic tracks from three Super Nintendo titles.

Well, that’s our summer soundtrack sorted, then!

Last year, The Holophonics created Banjo-Kazooie albums, rearranging the music of every level to perfection. The band also recorded an album with various covers related to video games, from Pokémon topic to Kirby arrive Chrono Activator and even Zelda.

Sadly, Donkey SKAng Country will be the band’s last video game cover album, but they won’t stop producing music, thank God! You can come and see ‘s band Bandcamp page here, where you can buy this awesome new DK album. Or you can go and listen to some music on The Holophonics’ Youtube Channel.

Go on! Give your Monday a little fun with this great album. And thanks to Justin Hines for pointing us in the direction of The Holophonics!
