Cooper Kupp trauma analysis; The NFL’s 5 Healthiest, Most Injured Teams

Defending Superbowl Champion The Los Angeles Rams was in the middle of the group in health scores this season. With the highest ranking being 12th and dropping to 26th, they were fluctuating due to players like Joe Noteboom, Van Jefferson and Matthew Stafford injury report. Their latest hit is an ankle sprain caused by an All-Pro receiver Cooper Kupp last weekend.

Kupp was injured getting off the field while attempting a reception on Sunday when he was rolled in by an Arizona Cardinals defender. Rams coach Sean McVay has confirmed that Kupp will need surgery and continue IR. This will be a ligation procedure that uses strong stitches to immobilize the ankle but still allows some movement and anatomically works like the capsular ligament in a healthy ankle.

This type of surgery requires a recovery time of 4-6 weeks. Given the force exerted on a player’s ankle is such an impact when rotating, jumping and cutting, this could be tilted towards the 5-6 week term back.

With that, we move on to this week’s game preview featuring Kupp’s Rams against the Saints (Sunday on FOX at 1pm ET).

The St Join as the home team in a 3-match winning team clash. The Saints have struggled this season both in terms of team performance and health. Overall, the Saints have been stationed in the bottom half of the health rankings all season – as the NFL’s most successful team in the BUS rankings, and have never surpassed 23rd.
