Chery launches official brand at Malaysia Autoshow 2023 – Omoda 5, Tiggo 8 Pro for test drive
Have you heard of Chery and upcoming models for a while, but this is not another upcoming announcement, this is not a rehearsal. The returning brand will make its public debut at the Malaysia Autoshow 2023 event this week. Held at MAEPS Serdang, the show is open to the public from May 4 to 7.
Chery announced their presence at the show with the image above and said: “It’s time to get behind the wheel of a Chery. Pick us up at Malaysia’s biggest auto show and test drive the upcoming Omoda 5 and Tiggo 8 Pro!”

Visitors to Malaysia Autoshow 2023 will be able to see these two models and also test drive them. However, while this is the brand’s first public appearance and the two models, it’s still not an official launch – that should happen in June.
Bold style omoda 5 is a B-segment SUV that competes with the Honda HR-V and Toyota Corolla Cross; and as you can see, the adventurous design will be its selling point. Behind that sophisticated nose is a 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with a capacity of 147 horsepower and 230 Nm of torque, driving the front wheels through a CVT gearbox. For Tiggo 8 Proit’s a full-size seven-seat SUV that wasn’t long ago Chery’s flagship SUV (there’s a Tiggo 9 in China now). We will be getting the latest improved version of this model, called Tiggo 8 Pro Max in China, although the ‘Max’ suffix may be dropped in Malaysia to simplify things. Design wise, these two SUVs are a breath of fresh air to our market and the level of equipment is good. There will also be a long warranty for peace of mind, useful for a newcomer. The key then, is price. Expect the Omoda 5 and Tiggo 8 Pro to track the HR-V and CR-V’s RRPs, respectively, and offer more toolkits, respectively.
