BMW brings technology concepts to life by 2025

BMW car announced the next generation head-up display (HUD) will be introduced in all Are not class model from 2025.

The brand calls its upcoming HUD the BMW Panoramic Vision and says the technology will go into production alongside its first Neue Klasse models.

In what BMW says is a first for automakers, the system will project information across the entire width of the windshield.

The customizable HUD allows drivers to decide what information is displayed in their field of vision and what other occupants will be able to see.

Earlier this year, BMW revealed i Vision Dee EV concept at CES in Las Vegas. The concept has a panoramic screen projected onto the windshield.

BMW has released an updated photo of the ‘Panoramic Vision’ system that appears to combine a slim cabin display with a widescreen windshield display. The HUD appears to be 3D, projecting from the front of the panel.

The technology is part of the brand’s vision to deliver a “firsthand, hands-on” user experience for drivers as infotainment systems become increasingly complex.

The brand focuses heavily on the upcoming Neue Klasse models, which will be built on a new architecture.

BMW has previously said its Neue Klasse range will be equipped with new features cylindrical lithium-ion battery cells from around 2025.

Compared to current battery technology, this cylindrical cell technology is said to improve energy density by more than 20%, charging speed by up to 30%, and charging range by 30%.

At the BMW 2023 Annual Meeting Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Board of Directors BMW AG said that the Neue Klasse is expected to enter production in the second half of 2025.

BMW will manufacture the models at a range of its plants, with production to begin under a dedicated scheme in Debrecen, Hungary.

The automaker is in the midst of transforming its historic plant in Munich and San Luis Potosi factory in Mexico, to be able to produce the upcoming New Klasse models.

However, there is still some time left until the brand releases these cars. BMW has revealed the fact that there will be six Neue Klasse models in the first 24 months of the platform’s life.

The first models will be an SUV, likely a template for the current X3, as well as a sedan in the 3 Series segment.
