Black Ink Crew’s Ceaser Emanuel charged with animal cruelty after hitting dog with a chair
Black Ink Crew New York, a VH1 show about tattoo artists working in Harlem, which once featured a 43-year-old artist named Ceaser Emanuel. Now, the show has completely cut ties with Emanuel after witnessing a disturbing case of animal abuse perpetrated by him.
Ring’s camera footage went viral this year, horrifying both fans of the show and dog lovers everywhere. The disturbing video shows Emanuel hitting a dog with a deck chair, among other things.
Abuse incident caught on camera
This conversation really started when Ring’s footage was post on twitter end of June 2022. The video is watermarked but you can still clearly tell that Emanuel is abusing a dog.
The dog ran towards the corner of the driveway, and he ran after it. Emanuel then picked up a nearby deck chair and repeatedly attacked the dog with it. Later in the video, he puts a dog in a cage and then shoves the cage so it rolls over and over again.
I’ll include it below so you can see (if you can figure it out) what happened to yourself.

The fall and its consequences
Black ink crew reacted pretty quickly after this video went viral. VH1 fired Emanuel back in June. On June 23, the network shared this statement:
“We have made the decision to cut ties with Ceaser Emanuel from Black Ink Crew New York. As next season is nearing the end of production, this decision will not affect the upcoming season. “
On July 9, 2022, Emanuel turned himself in and was charged with two counts of cruelty to animals and one more serious animal crime. However, he went home later that day.
An Emanuel representative told Shade room:
“Ceaser voluntarily turned himself in and was released the same day on July 9 from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department. His legal team is fully cooperating with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department to bring him justice for this case. As we said before, dogs are in a great space, safe and healthy. “
Animal abusers often re-offendSo, if convicted of animal cruelty, Emanuel will no longer be able to keep dogs.
Emanuel’s Defense
Although Emanuel has officially apologized, he still insists that what happened in the video is not animal abuse. Emanuel’s attorney, Walter Mosley, tell PEOPLE that his client was trying to stop an aggressive dog from attacking another person in the video.
“Ceaser is a huge dog lover and has raised a lot of dogs and has raised many dogs and other pets in his life. This is an unfortunate situation as I understand it, where there are several other aggressive dogs attacking the smaller dogs and perhaps a lack of judgment how to break it appropriately. , disrupting that interaction. “
Emanuel himself previously responded to the viral video with a similar sentiment:
“Not once have I wanted to mistreat this dog. I tried to put him back in his cage. I will not make excuses for myself. I should have behaved better, but it’s not that I’m cruel to animals.”
Mosley went on to admit that Emanuel’s methods were flawed, but his intentions were good. He also emphasized that the video captures events “probably close to a year or more” and that Emanuel worked through them.
“In a sense what is not seen in the video is that he is protecting the smaller dogs, he may not have done this in the best way, so he is looking for support and helping to ensure that as a dog owner, he properly manages it, and understands how to interact in healthier ways with all types of dogs and all of his dogs, but this is definitely a situation he has dealt with a long time ago.”
In addition, Emanuel has said that he thinks the sudden “disruption” caused by the spread of Ring’s camera footage does unfair damage to the character.
“I feel like I’m being set up in a certain way because the way I’m portrayed, that’s not my character.”
Emanuel’s former co-star, Donna Lombardi, disagree. Like she posted on Instagram:
“If you can treat a dog like this, it shows what kind of person you really are. I’m not even part of this man’s life, but this video makes me very uncomfortable. Anyone who knows me, knows I LOVE animals. Especially the dogs.”
Damage was done both ways, both the dog and Emanuel’s relationship with Black ink crew.
