Bengals QB suffers knee pain in Super Bowl, no surgery needed
Joe Burrow injured his knee during Super Bowl 56. He didn’t miss any shots because of the injury and as expected, it wasn’t a serious case.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday that Burrow’s knee injury is a “sprain,” but it won’t require surgery.
#Bengals QB Joe Burrow injured his knee during the Super Bowl without surgery, sources said, based on initial examinations. He will have to be rehabilitated, but the sprain shouldn’t significantly alter his reasoning.

Again, this is not a big surprise. Burrow didn’t miss a single moment during the Super Bowl and refused treatment from athletic coaches after suffering an injury.

However, this is good news for the Bengals, as it means the Burrow will be at full strength relatively early in the season. The team has plenty of time to monitor injuries before training camp begins at the end of July.
Also, the knee injury Burrow suffered during the Super Bowl was in his right leg. Crucially, Burrow suffered an ACL tear in his left knee during the 2020 NFL season. Any injury to his left knee could have exacerbated that problem, so Cincinnati must be grateful for that. His other knee was lightly beaten this time.

Burrow won the NFL’s Returning Player of the Year for 2021 after returning from that torn left ACL. He will have no problem coming back from this injury and once again playing at a high level for the Bengals.
Burrow completed his league-high 70.4% of passes for 4,611 yards, 34 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in 16 games starting the regular season in 2021. He added 1,105 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions to his total over the course of the season and post a combined record of 13-7 of his 20 games.
