At $34,900, is this 2006 Hummer H2 SUT worth buying?
While the new GMC Hummer may be the biggest and most powerful electric truck on the planet, today Nice price or no dice The H2 gas engine is more traditional and one-third the cost. Let’s see if it’s cheap enough.
There are two types of people in the world – those who love to drive convertibles and those who have seen the joy of life sucked out of them after some horrifying experience. Some people later enjoy driving convertibles, too, just not to the extent that they should.
The thing is, most people like (or should like) driving a convertible, and Last Friday 1974 Fiat Sports Spider appears like a classic convertible with a lot to offer. At $6,500, it’s not too expensive either, a fact made clear by 91% of the amazingly good price votes the car earned.
Speaking of likes, are you the type to like idea of a pickup truck but still not ready to jump into the whole car category? Well then, I have a pickup for you.

This 2006 Hummer H2 SUT (Sports utility vehicle) technically a pickup truck. After all, it has a bed in the back that is accessed by the usual fold-down rear door. It even looks like a pickup truck. Or maybe like a three-box sedan version of public housing. Either way, the bed on the H2 SUT is only about 35-inches long, with a width of just over 47 inches, so it won’t have to carry anything a traditional pickup can do. No plywood to the construction site or motorcycle to the forest for this pickup. A midway port between the cabin and the berth provides extra space, but it’s not like a typical pickup. That kind of restriction takes utility out of its name.
With a curb weight of more than 6,600 pounds, the H2 isn’t all that nimble in bends either, so we can discount the Sport moniker. That just makes the Truck the only honest part of the SUT name and is treated as an H2 based on three quarters GMT820 ton truck frame, it fulfills that part in batches. That alone seems to have garnered a solid following for these quirky trucks.
This SUT also has a number of updates and refurbishments in its favor. The seller notes $15,000 for the repair just completed, which includes replacing worn-out parts and cleaning the bodywork and trim. The ad also says that the PUFFY truck is, I must admit, a new car for me. The full statement reads:
This has NEVER BEEN SEE ️ WINTER 🧂 2006 Hummer H2 SUT w/ 131,112 miles. ready for a new and it can be said PUFFY is spinning its current destination! 💯 – NO ONE MKT COMP REALLY LIKE THIS H2 FOR SALE ANYWHERE IN THE USA NOW – BOOK MY WORD! 🎯
The rest of the ad is a bit easier to follow and tells us that the truck has a clear title and 131,112 miles on the sign. These cars originally came with a beige leather cabin, but the seller (who is the fifth owner!) claims that they swapped that cabin for a more premium black leather interior. The exterior is still the Pewter factory and there have been a large number of small doors that have been smoothed with an unpainted dent removal service. All are in good shape both top and bottom, including it large aftermarket alloy.
Like all H2 SUTs, this one is ordered from a 6.0-liter Vortec V8 that makes 325 hp and 365 lb-ft of torque. That matches the 4L65-E four-speed automatic transmission and the four-wheel driveThe powertrain offers a few different traction scenarios. Together, that gets the truck around 10 mpg around town and almost 13 mpg on the open highway. YMMV.
As I noted, these Hummers still have a pretty solid fan club, and the latest electric reimagining of the brand will only expand that. Maybe now is the time to get on the train before it leaves the station. The question, however, is whether this H2 SUT is worth the $34,900 fare.
What do you think? SShould someone pay that kind of cash for this SUT that failed to deliver on the first two promises? Or, is that too much even for a truck overtaking?
You decide!
