The rescue operation began in February 2024 when BISSELL Pet Foundation’s specialized Animal Incident Management (AIM) team received an emergency call from the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office. The request details the dire situation in Bear Creek, NC, where more than 200 dogs were discovered living in horrific conditions.
Responding quickly, the AIM team organized a large-scale rescue mission. About 60 of these dogs were lucky enough to board the Rescue Race plane that took them to a new start in Grand Rapids, landing directly at a dedicated Bissell hangar. The journey didn’t end there for the remaining dogs, as they were quickly sent to eight different shelters across Michigan, all with the aim of finding them the loving homes they wanted. deserve it.
