Elijah Garcia blocks Amilcar Vidal for four

Showtime boxing hit the header three times Saturday night from the Toyota Arena in Ontario, California. The opening match pitted Amilcar Vidal 16-0 against Elijah Garcia 13-0 in a scheduled 10-round middleweight match. The first half saw Vidal try to take advantage of range with his sloth shot. Although the pace was still decent, both men landed well in the second round. However, Garcia’s face was covered in blood.
With that said, Garcia launched a good combination in the third round, and applied pressure very effectively. Southpaw continued to pressurize his man in the fourth inning. The tide is definitely flowing in Garcia’s direction. In fact, it was flowing so strongly in Garcia’s direction that he shook Vitale towards the end of the round and started cornering him on the ropes. Referee Jack Reiss stepped in and stopped the match as Vitale collapsed onto the tarp.
