Claressa Shields-Savannah Marshall The Undisputed Fight May Be Announced April 2

An undisputed middleweight bout between Claressa Shields and Savannah Marshall could be announced on April 2.

That night, Marshall will make his third WBO defense against Belgium’s Femke Hermans at Newcastle Arena, live on Sky Sports. Promoter Ben Shalom told Boxing Social’s Ryan Elliott that work is underway behind the scenes to ensure that the superfight can be made official tonight.

“We’re working extremely hard to make sure we can try and announce a specific date of April 2,” he said.

“Savannah has to protect her WBO, it’s a must on April 2nd and Claressa will be there working for Sky and we hope that we can announce the fight on that day.

“It’s a war we’ve been building for a while. It’s a fight that we’re really excited about and really want to do. [I] considered that this is one of the biggest fights in women’s boxing around the world, which is also interested by many television stations. I think April, the fingers have crossed, we should be able to announce that correctly. ”

Shields, the other three title holder in her division, fought last month in Cardiff on the Chris Eubank Jr-Liam Williams card. Her win over Ema Kozin was tracked by Shields. The two rivals then engaged in a heated exchange during their post-match interview with Sky Sports.
