Joshua Buatsi: I’m Britain’s lightest-heavyweight
Joshua Buatsi says he is the best in England and better than up-and-coming rival Craig Richards.
The two heavyweights will meet at the O2 Arena, London on Saturday night in the WBA light-heavyweight world title knockout on DAZN.
“I’m the best in the country,” Buatsi said on Matchroom’s Face-Off show.
“The truth is though; We didn’t fight each other. Spider was the first light-heavyweight in the UK that I got into boxing, so I can pinpoint that from there. Everyone can say they’re the best, but until someone wins the world title to separate themselves, everyone has a reason to, and we’re the first to really fight. “.
Buatsi (15-0, 13 KOs) is not only extremely confident he is better than Richards (17-2-1, 10 KOs) but insists the former world champion knows it too.
“I am 100 per cent better than him. I looked him in the eye and he knew who I was. You don’t need to explain. I don’t need to speak badly and I don’t need the media. I love my private life.
“I have opinions, but I don’t care about social media or any of that. Forget the image, when I fight, it’s violence. I carry out myself in a certain way, but when I get into the ring, it’s violent.
In professional boxing, we’re all shouldering ourselves in a certain way, but the brakes were off when I was in the ring. Talking can’t do, fighting can. ”
