WhatsApp down: The app crashes; User asked Elon Musk to buy it
When WhatsApp was down for about an hour, people started asking Tesla CEO Elon Musk to buy it.
WhatsApp, one of the most popular and widely used messaging apps, experienced a major crash early Friday, April 29 and was down for about an hour. People who use messaging apps cannot send messages or chat, make video calls, and others. Next to its official Twitter handle, WhatsApp tweeted: “You might be having some issues using WhatsApp at the moment. We know and are working hard to get everything running smoothly again. We’ll keep you updated, and in the meantime, thank you for your patience.”
As reported by express.co.uk, people started observing problems using WhatsApp around 9.30pm BST. Many users complain that their accounts are offline. However, after almost an hour of acknowledging the problem, WhatsApp fixed the problem. “And we’re back. Happy chatting!”, the messaging app tweeted. It can be said that the cause of the power failure is still unknown.
According to information provided by Down Detector, which monitors web issues, most of the reported issues are related to WhatsApp message sending (64%), followed by apps (19%), and receiving messages (17%).
Some WhatsApp users took to Twitter to announce the matter, while some even demanded that Tesla CEO Elon Musk acquire WhatsApp. Commenting on WhatsApp’s post acknowledging the problem, one user said, “Elon Musk is going to WhatsApp HQ tomorrow to buy it.” While another said, “@elonmusk please buy Whatsapp.” Some other commenters read: “Poor service!! How are we compensated for wasted time???”; “Why WhatsApp is always down.”
For starters, WhatsApp boasts over 2 billion users worldwide and is used to connect with family and friends. Using this app, people can send messages, media files (images, videos, audios, etc.), update statuses and much more. This app can be used by both Android and iPhone users.
