Which Model Should You Choose?
There are two PlayStation 5 models. The standard PS5 costs $500, while the digital version is $400. The former has a drive for physical game discs and can also play 4K Blu-ray. The Digital Edition skips the drive, so you’ll have to download all your games. That is the only difference.
While that $100 in savings sounds tempting, there are some compelling reasons to buy a PS5 . drive. After the games have been out for a while, the disc version is usually cheaper. Alternatively, you can play your old PS4 discs on the new console, and you can resell the PS5 game disc when it’s done, which you can’t do with the digital versions. That’s all before you consider Ultra HD Blu-ray playback.
Should you upgrade?
The lack of exclusive games that must be on PlayStation 5 might give you pause. Most of the top titles that will land in the next few months will likely have PS4 versions. Don’t feel like you’ll miss out on games if you’re completely satisfied with your existing PS4.
