I had to accept the fact that I have extremely picky hair. If you’ve read any of my other posts, you’ll know that I often talk about how finding the right products for my thick, dry curly hair isn’t easy. Silicon? She said, “No, thank you.” Coconut oil? No chance!
Last year, I also decided to stop weekly heat styling and take advantage of my natural texture. To say it was an adventure trying to find the right products for my curls after this is an understatement. As I mentioned above, there are certain ingredients that just don’t sit well with my strands. Sometimes they will make my curls feel hydrated for an hour or two, but then they get drier over time, which is definitely not the goal. Luckily, I found a brand I can trust to deliver softness, shine, and hydration without the ingredients my hair doesn’t like. Bounce Curl offers everything curls crave without the stuff that can dry or damage them. It uses heroic ingredients inspired by the founder’s ancestral traditions Merian Odesho.
Like me, Odesho became frustrated with the number of products she tried without success and decided to create her own. With organic oils and other natural ingredients, Bounce Curl is perfect for any struggling curls. I recently tried a few products from this brand and loved them so much that I had to share—no guarding here! For all my favorites from the brand, keep scrolling. I’m sharing my thoughts about them below.

Pure Silk Moisturizing Shampoo
This creamy moisturizing shampoo doesn’t lather so it takes a little getting used to, but honestly, I can’t find enough good things to say about it. It’s great for those switching to natural textures as it’s packed with super moisturizers like safflower oil, organic black seed oil, vitamin B5 and olive oil. It brings much-needed vitality to dry or damaged hair. Since I’ve been using it, I’ve noticed a significant increase in shine and moisture. Since my hair is naturally dry and coarse, I try to keep it to once or twice a week, but if I need to wash it a bit more, I feel confident using this product. It doesn’t strip my hair or make it brittle, so I can use it three times a week as needed without affecting my hair.

Hydra cleansing conditioner
This cleansing conditioner is like a general wash. I decided to give it a try because my hair is so dry and boy oh boy was it a good decision. I was surprised at how well it cleaned. To be honest, I don’t like multiple shampoos at once because they don’t clean my thick hair very well, but this one really works. This product is so moisturizing that you can even use it to clean your locks on a daily basis. If you’re like me and have dry hair but exercise a lot, this is the perfect product for you. Premium herbal ingredients such as organic aloe vera, panthenol, jojoba esters, black seed oil and marshmallow root extract nourish and repair damaged or brittle hair.

Ayurvedic deep conditioner
This is my favorite product of the bunch. Since my hair gets dry so easily, I use a deep conditioner like my regular conditioner every week to really add a big boost of nutrients to my hair. This is great for coarse, curly hair as it is formulated with famous Ayurvedic ingredients like amla, brinjal and shikakai. I love that it adds a lot of softness, hydration, and shine to my hair without weighing down my curls or making them feel greasy. While I love this aspect of the formula, I wish this brand’s moisturizers felt a little more defined. I love when my curls are super tight and defined without having to use another product.

Identify the buttocks
This styler is designed for hair that is super thick and has a wavy or curly texture (types 4a to 4c). While I like that it adds shine and hydration to my hair, I think it could do with a little more in the shaping department. It adds what I call subtle definition instead of creating super defined circles. I like my stylists to add a little more definition so the style lasts longer. It infuses hair with some serious moisture thanks to ingredients like murumuru butter, baobab oil, and mango butter.

Avocado and rose oil cream and nourishing cream
This setting cream with avocado oil, argan oil, Abyssinian oil, Moroccan rose and black seed oil also made my hair really soft but still gave just a hint of softness. Because my hair is coarse and often difficult to style, I need to style it a bit more to get the hair I want. I will definitely try combining this product with one of the brand’s styling gels next.

Identify styling brushes
This brush is specially designed to enhance waves, curls and curls. It smooths out any curls and you can even use its ends as a comb to part your hair. I am a big fan of this brush. I have super thick hair so it took quite a few tries to detangle and smooth my curls, but once I did, it looked great.

Head & hair healing, conditioner
I recently tried this new conditioner from one of my favorite hair care brands Maria Nila and it is very gentle on the scalp. I have a sensitive, sometimes red scalp and this really soothes and moisturizes the scalp. Shampoo heals head and hair ($36).

Coiled & curled hair finishing mask
Besides the conditioner above, this is my favorite treatment mask from the company. It is very nourishing and moisturizing for all types of curly hair. My curls always feel softer and look more defined after I leave this style in for about an hour (sometimes longer for some). reality deep adjustment).
