2025 Citroen C3: Gas bunker revealed, Australia’s plans unclear


After revealing the new electric Citroen e-C3 late last year, the French brand has unveiled a gasoline and mild hybrid model.

New one Citroen C3 looks almost similar e-C3with a more upright, SUV-like profile than the outgoing C3, making it closer to the Separate C3 is offered in developing markets.

Orders are open in Europe ahead of mid-year deliveries, but it’s unclear when it will arrive in Australia.

“Information regarding updates to product lines in Australia will be shared in due course. A spokesperson for Peugeot Citroen Australia said the C3 is currently on the market.

“There are no further updates on the e-C3 at this stage.”

The C3 has a length of 4.01m, an increase of 19mm compared to the old model. It’s also 100mm taller, with ground clearance increased from 135mm to 197mm.

The new Hybrid 100 powertrain features a 3-cylinder petrol engine with a 48V mild hybrid system and a new dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The petrol engine produces 75kW of power, while the electric motor produces 21kW of power. Citroen says the powertrain delivers 205Nm of torque, with 55Nm from the electric motor.

Citroen promises a 10% reduction in CO2 emissions and fuel consumption compared to the equivalent petrol version and claims up to 50% of city journeys can be done in electric mode.

The entry-level engine is a 75kW turbocharged 1.2-litre three-cylinder, mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.

All new C3 models are equipped with Citroen’s suspension with improved hydraulic cushioning, as seen on the brand’s other vehicles such as the flagship C5Xpromises better driving feel and superior body control.

The system features two hydraulic cushions used at each corner of the vehicle – one for compression, one for decompression – in conjunction with shock absorbers and springs, in place of mechanical stops.

The focus on comfort continues inside with redesigned Citroen Advanced Comfort seats, which feature an additional 10mm foam layer for better envelopment and support.

The available 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system sits atop a minimalist dashboard, which features fabric upholstery that Citroen says was inspired by sofas.

There’s no traditional instrument cluster, instead Citroen introduced a head-up display, with important information projected onto the glossy black surface.

All models come standard with LED headlights and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection.

Available features include satellite navigation, climate control, wireless smartphone mirroring, a wireless phone charger, and rain-sensing wipers.

Citroen will sell just 69 C3 hatchbacks in Australia in 2023, down 10.4% on the previous year.

It has sold six times more than that Skoda Fabia And Audi A1although it is almost Citroen’s best seller, beating the C5 X by just one.
