Take Korean travel photos with a compact prime lens

Travel photography is one of the most enjoyable craft genres, and counterintuitively, it can sometimes be improved by limiting the amount of gear you bring, especially lenses.

I love scientific, insightful, and fun videos about camera gear and lighting. However, there are only so many videos you can watch before you get dizzy, but I don’t see that happening with behind-the-scenes travel photography videos.

This video, while a little more interesting and watchable than its face value, also touches on a topic I’ve discussed before: self-inflicted limitations. This isn’t a strategy for everyone, but if you’re an experienced photographer—or even a beginner—bringing just one camera body and lens on a trip might make sense. Feeling strangely comfortable. It forces you to figure out how to get the shot you want and are envisioning with a lens that is at best “ill-fitting” and at worst “unsuitable.” Not only will it help you improve as a photographer, but it will also increase the likelihood that you’ll get a unique photo, especially in places where copy-and-paste photos are common.

Do you ever limit the equipment you carry with you to force creative photography?
