Annual Good wood Member congress To be one of the most exciting classical events in the world, attracting some of the greatest talent and iron on four wheels to one place. this year The Graham Hill Trophy race features GT racing cars of the early 1960s is one of the rowing events on the schedule, because of it Packed into gills with large motors Cobras, Jaguar E-types and Corvettes, with a few bantam-class Porsches and Lotuses thrown in to keep things lively. One of those PorschesOne 904 driven by Olly Bryant, is an absolute smasher.
In this incredible lap from Bryant, you can see his 904 trying to overtake the Lotus and Cobra. Through the equipment on the car, you can see how differently the three cars handle fast laps at the Goodwood track. The Cobra focuses on quick acceleration and minimal wheel spin, while the Lotus is decelerated throughout its entire run. The 904 is a great combination of both, delivering impressive power and balance from its extremely noisy engine.
After Bryant managed to steer both cars into a corner, thanks to the resistance provided by the Cobra, the 904 had several minutes of uninterrupted speed as it sped through the clear air. The sound, the feel, and the quick turn of the wheels are an accurate representation of what it takes to make a sixty-year-old fiberglass Porsche go fast.
The 904 is one of my favorite Porsche racing cars because it combines mechanical and engineering simplicity with a stunning, unadorned design. Unfortunately, I’m too tall to fit in the 904, so I have to rely on built-in video like this to get around it. Hope you will like it as much as I do.
