Woodbine Aftercare Day is a huge success for TAA


Coinciding with the sophomore Taylor Stakes Day EP, Woodbine Aftercare Day includes a dedication to the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (TAA). After the third race on the October 8 card at Woodbine Speedway, the TAA accepted a check for $5,000 from Woodbine Cares.

Additionally, 17 jockeys and 14 jock room employees assigned a portion of their Saturday earnings, resulting in an additional $6,500 contribution to TAA.

TAA Grants Committee Chair, Yvonne Schwabe, said: “Woodbine Post-Care Day is a huge success for the Post-Pure Care Coalition. “I’m so grateful to our amazing riders and waiters who donated in support of TAA during Saturday’s festival. The level of dedication to purebred childcare has been recognized. showing this weekend is very encouraging and we hope to continue to maintain this partnership for many years to come.”

TAA also hosts the Best Spinning Horse Awards Ceremony on EP Taylor Bet Day, sponsored by Josham Farms Limited, providing cash prizes and gift bags to the winning groom of the Best Spinning Horse for each race. Race out of five bet-on-card races: Woodbine Cares Stakes, Nearctic Shares (G2T) presented by Pure Technical Care Alliance, Durham Cup (G3), EP Taylor Stakes (G1T) and Ontario Racing Staking.

Race 7 – Proximity Bets (G2T) presented by Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance: #3 WEDGEWOOD (ON) and groom Amanda Cameron (Coach: Michael Keogh)
Race 8 – Durham Cup (G3): #7 HOMBRE (ON) and groom Ramon Lafond (Coach: Roger Attfield)
Race 9 – EP Taylor Stakes (G1T): #3 MOIRA (ON) and groom Peter Lopez (Coach: Kevin Attard)
Race 10 – Ontario Racing Bet: #4 KEEN FLATTER (ON) and groom Steve Powell (Coach: Josie Carroll)

In addition to the Best Spinning Horse award, the TAA presented the Nearctic Stakes (G2T) award won by CAZADERO cadets and Brendan Walsh’s husband Patrick to owner Marc Detampel.
