Woman thinks she found a homeless “dog” on her porch, when it “wasn’t a dog at all”


It’s not uncommon to read about feral dogs in bad shape, so when Sharon Bertozzi discovered a sick dog curled up on her porch for four hours, she shared the story with friends. .

However, surprise came later when she realized that this”dogactually not a dog.

She immediately called Folsom City Animal Services to get the wolf’s help. When rescuers arrived, they took a closer look at the animal and discovered that it was actually a young coyote with a frightening case.

They immediately took the wolf back to their clinic, where it was treated for sore throats and dehydration. They decided to name her Princess and eventually transferred her to Wildlife Rescue in Gold Country where she will receive further treatment.

The lifeguards refused to give up on her, and after struggling for a while, she got on. She reused the litter box and ate regularly when she was given a medicated bath by her caregiver.

Once Princess has recovered from her illness, she can return to the wild. The animal shelter placed her in Sierra Wildlife Rescue, where she was able to interact with another wolf while recovering from a recent illness.

Soon after, the Princess and her brand new coyote friends were released back into the wild on over 800 acres of beautiful open roaming land.

The princess has come a long way to knock on death’s door. Now she is a beautiful, healthy girl!
