How to track your sleep with Fitbit


Once the Fitbit is purchased and fully charged, simply place the device next to your phone, then open the Fitbit app to Android or iOSand you’ll see a prompt to connect your device—as long as Bluetooth is turned on on your phone. Then all your physical activities will start being recorded and synced automatically with the app.

Track your sleep

You don’t need to press a button or flip a toggle switch for your Fitbit device to start recording your sleep; it will do so automatically when it detects that your body is going into sleep mode. It will also record naps lasting an hour or longer. In a sense, all you have to do to track your sleep with a Fitbit is wear it.

There is a little more to know about it. Your Fitbit will be smart enough to detect restless sleep through the way your body moves, and if your wearable has a built-in heart rate monitor, it’ll know what to look for to tell the difference. between light, deep and REM sleep. (There’s more to this on Google’s website.) When Fitbit senses you moving in ways that wouldn’t be possible if you were sleeping, sleep logging stops.

Open Today in the Fitbit app to see the sleep you recorded last night, in hours and minutes. If you tap on the sleep tab, you can see your stats go back over time, over several months or even a year. You can switch between bedtime And Sleep schedule using the buttons below the chart.

If your device has a heart rate monitor, which all but the oldest Fitbits do, you’ll also get a sleep score: This score is based on several factors, such as how well how much you move during the night and the amount of deep sleep you get, to give you a number up to 100. The higher the number, the better you sleep.

Keep tapping on the stats for more details—like what time of night you slept deeply or lightly. If you’re a Fitbit Premium subscriber, you’ll also get Sleep Profile information: This feature uses a variety of sleep metrics to tell you about trends in your sleep patterns and how they compare with others your age and gender.
