Since we began this survey one factor has remained fixed: when an NEA strip is cancelled and the syndicate replaces it with a brand new strip, that new strip can have fewer papers than the cancelled strip.

In 1985 we’ve got the alternative; Levy’s Regulation was cancelled and changed by Arlo and Janis; the brand new strip received into 28 papers, in comparison with 22 for the cancelled strip.  That good begin, helped by being an NEA alternative, takes our honors as the highest rookie of the 12 months.
